You know how in the movies they always make fun of the new assistant because they can’t make a cup of coffee? Well that would be me, unless there was a Keurig machine involved. Growing up in my house we never had coffee, we always had tea instead. I drink so much tea I’m pretty sure the caffeine doesn’t even affect me anymore. Tea has always been a comforting experience for me and since I discovered afternoon tea service, my tea world has never been the same. Now when I’m traveling, I always splurge on afternoon tea. Here are my favorite places in NYC.
7th Floor, 754 5th Avenue
This is my go-to tea spot, especially when people come to visit me in NYC. After window shopping up Fifth Avenue I love going up to the 7th floor and wandering through the vintage silver rooms before having afternoon tea overlooking the park.
10 Morton Street
This small tea parlor downtown is my favorite place to go. It’s pretty small so it feels more intimate and is a great tea place for a party or celebration.
768 5th Avenue
If you really want to splurge and feel fancy in NYC the Plaza hotel is famous for their afternoon tea and they even have an Eloise at the Plaza tea for kids.
396 West Broadway
A little bit of France in NYC, the recently opened Lauderée is a great place to stop for a break while shopping in Soho. They have a huge selection of macarons and in the summer you can sit outside on their patio.
I’ve tasted Italian cappuccinos, Vietnamese coffee and the most expensive coffee in the world, Balinese Luwak coffee but I will always be a tea person. Have you had any great afternoon tea services?
