Two of my favorite things are color and pattern. And Frank Stella is famous for both of them. I hadn’t been to see the new Whitney Museum in the Meatpacking District yet and the Frank Stella exhibit was the perfect excuse. It’s amazing how much the Whitney has changed the landscape of the area. There are now tons of tourist street vendors surrounding the museum area and the restaurants and shops are teeming with people. It will be interesting to see how it changes in the next few years. The exhibit was definitely worth seeing in person, my favorite part was seeing his small sketches of his large scale works. Don’t forget to take a peek off the museums rooftop balconies for a pretty amazing view over the city and across the river.
