Happy New Year! 2015 was the first full year I spent at my new job, the first year I lived alone in my own apartment and the first year I really took on solo travel. I started the year in Italy finding my favorite rooftop to date in Milano. I re-visited old haunts; the Otesaga in Cooperstown, New York and friends in Boston. I went to Vegas for the first time and fell in love with Nicaragua. I learned to surf and to ski and to not swallow the ocean water in Central America.

I have big plans for 2016 and a few travel resolutions:

2015: A Year in Travel
Las Vegas, Nevada, June 2015

To learn Spanish

So I can spend more time exploring Latin America. I’m currently using Duolingo‘s free app and trying introductory classes in the city.

2015: A Year in Travel
Cooperstown, New York, August 2015

To spend more time reading

On the beach hopefully. I always prefer to read real books but they’re not that practical for traveling so I may give in and buy a Kindle this year.

NYC Day Trips: West Point Football
West Point, New York, October 2015

To continue to improve my skiing and surfing

I didn’t expect to love both so much (or to not have tried either of them until now). Hopefully I will have a chance to do more of both this year.

Do you have any travel resolutions for 2016?
