Somehow hats have become the traveler’s ultimate Instagram accessory and the Panama hat is leading the charge. Did you know the Panama hat isn’t actually from Panama?

The Panama hat was actually originally made in Ecuador but was brought to Panama to be sold and shipped to other parts of the world giving the hat its name. Theodore Roosevelt is famous for being photographed visiting the Panama canal wearing the iconic hat and increasing its popularity. It is woven from the Plant Paja Toquilla and similar to thread count the higher the number of woven rows per inch the better quality of hat. Today it is an ultimate icon of summer style (and travel) worldwide.
